where solid mechanics meets multi-physics meets applied math meets materials science meets computational engineering
Our research is focused on the interface of (finite) deformation, flow and interaction of solids, (micro) structures and liquids/fluids in extreme, coupled and aerospace settings, spanning theoretical mechanics, applied and computational mathematics and physics, and materials science.
Research themes:
Continuum mechanics, rheology and statistical mechanics of solids and condensed matter: polymeric solids and liquids, and crystalline matter
Mechanics + geometry + topology and additive manufacturing for aerospace materials; and new multi-functional mechanical devices
Matter vs. extreme, multi-physics (electromagnetic, chemical reaction, radiation etc) environments interactions (e.g. reentry, landing, space and reactors)
Scientific computing and physical applied mathematics for aerospace computational design; Physics-based design of robotic matter
