physics of solids: where solid mechanics meets applied math
meets materials science meets computational engineering
Our research is focused on the interface of (finite) deformation, flow and interaction of solids, materials, microstructures and liquids/fluids in extreme and coupled settings, spanning theoretical mechanics, applied and computational mathematics and physics, and materials science.
Research themes:
Continuum and statistical mechanics, rheology and physical mathematics of solids and condensed matter: polymeric solids and liquids, and crystalline matter
Mechanics + geometry + topology and additive manufacturing for multi-functional mechanical devices and robotic matter
Scientific computing and physical applied mathematics; Matter vs. extreme, coupled environments
